a funny arab woman I met in Makkah

Post by Elm on Thu Apr 24, 2008 1:58 am

I went to Makkah last summer to do umrah. In the mosque of al-haram and after I finished doing sa'ai, I went looking for a place to rest. I found a place just near the sa'ai area. I sat next to an old arab woman who looked so tired. She looked at me and asked if I had any water. I got her some zamzam water. After she drank her water, she looked at me and said " By the way, Al-Haram wasn't like as you see it now at the time of the prophet peace be upon him." I looked at her to see if she was being serious......She was.
Before giving me a chance to say something, she started making comparisons between al-haram now and before. And I kept nodding and forcing myself not to laugh.
When she was done with the comparisons. She looked at me and asked " Do you know where the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him went when the polytheists forced him to leave Makkah?" What the hell did she think I was? a first-grader?
I smiled and said "No, where?" she said" He went to Saudi Arabia."!
